Studies show that residents of a fishing town in Okinawa, Japan has the most centurions (people over 100 years old). Since this discovery, scientists have tried to figure out what key factors have helped them stay so healthy for so long. Some of the biggest contributors have been staying active even as they get older, resting appropriately, and eating well.

Perhaps as a side-effect from these things, it has also been noted that these centurions have elevated levels of sirtuins.  These are “natural enzymes that prolong the lifespan of our cells, and slows the visible aging process. Sirtuin 1 repairs and restores the cell before damage is visible. Sirtuin 3 restores the young energy of the cell and reduces the levels of aging bio-markers in the cells.” Essentially, it helps the cell to live longer by putting it on “life support” so to speak.

Natura Bisse launched a family of products within their line a few years ago with this exact process in mind–aptly called–The Cure. This line is complete with a cleanser, toner, serum, two creams, and an eye cream. It has an ingredient they call SIRT-AP Complex, which is a “revolutionary cutting-edge peptide complex obtained from Soy and Oryza Sativa rice, that modulates the activity of Sirtuin 1 and Sirtuin 3.”

In The Cure collection, The Cure Pure Serum has the highest concentration of active ingredients and is designed to penetrate the skin the deepest–making it the most expensive product in the line ($250), and yet the most quickly beneficial at the same time.

We also have gift sets available for a limited time that have full sizes of The Cure Cleanser, Hydro-gel Toner and Sheer Cream for $225 (A $59 savings).

In addition to using products that can topically affect sirtuins, resveratrol, when taken orally, can help as well. Resveratrol is an antioxidant found in red wine, and can mimic the positive affects of a low-calorie diet–providing increased metabolism, lower risk for heart disease, and regulated sirtuin levels. To learn more, look at this great clip taken from an episode of 60 Minutes. Drinking 1-2 glasses of red wine a day can help, but taking resveratrol supplements can give you a calculated dose without the side-effects of alcohol.
