Whether or not you decide to use mascara on your bottom lashes is totally personal. We really don’t typically feel there is a right or wrong way to do it. Some women feel naked without it–others feel like it makes them look old, or accentuates under-eye circles. There are a few situations where it just feels right to have that extra flirtiness, and some others where it may feel a little too heavy to use mascara on the bottom. This decision is totally up to you.

If you DO choose to use mascara on your bottom lashes, though, here are our best tricks!

1.) Spend the big bucks on lengthening, volumizing mascara on top lashes–don’t waste it on the bottom–use something cheaper there, you just need to darken these lashes so you don’t need anything too fancy.

2.) Use a WATERPROOF formula to prevent it from smearing as the day wears on! Even if you don’t use waterproof on the top, in Houston’s high humidity, or for people with sensitive eyes (that water a lot), it’s especially worth using waterproof.

3.) Find mascara with a dinky wand. This makes it easier to get the mascara where you want it: on your lashes, not your skin!

Each of these three tips have one solution:

Maybelline Lash Discovery Mascara Mini-brush Waterproof Mascara. Available at CVS, Walgreens, and most grocery stores. Sometimes they even have buy one get one half off deals giving you a great opportunity to stock up! Clinique recently came out with their “bottom-lash” mascara that has a mini brush and is water-resistant. But it’s about the same price as most other luxury brand mascaras, and this one certainly does the trick for FAR cheaper!
