Last weekend Facade Owner, Corinne Williams, accompanied by Senior Staff Artist, Kate Block, went on location to the Houstonian Hotel to do the makeup for Ashley Rovere and her lovely bridesmaids. Facade loves our brides and being enveloped in the fun and anticipation of a wedding—spending time preparing these girls was no exception. Our sweet bride was so excited to be surrounded by her loved ones–and with her magical vision of her wedding reception pulled together by Bahara from Plants ‘n Petals, photographed by Michael Carr Photography, videographed by Elysium, and planned by the capable hands of Ann Whittington (Ann Events) her night was truly ENCHANTING! Although it is common for us to do makeup for weddings and bridal portraits–that’s not the only makeup we know how to do here at Facade.

Corporate headshots or other professional portraits are an increasingly common marketing tool. It’s critical for your business that you are portrayed in the correct manner as these photos become an important visual representation of you to your client on business cards, websites, and other marekting materials. It’s a great way to establish a sense of trust and rapport with potential clients before ever having met them.

THIS, however, is why it’s incredibly important that not only do you have an appropriate, professional look in your photograph–but also that you look like YOURSELF on your best day– not over-the-top or glamorous. It’s crucial that when meeting new clients you don’t look like someone else completely from the photo. But that being said, doing your own makeup as you normally would isn’t always the best idea. The camera lens tends to read light much differently than the human eye. This is why many times when you think you have on “enough” or even “too much” makeup in person, you may look washed out in photos.

We are skilled at accentuating your best features, concealing minor imperfections, and creating a polished yet natural look. Because every last detail is captured in head shots/portraits, makeup applications for this purpose (a “photo face” as we call them) are scheduled for 60 minutes to ensure a flawless application and finish.

A photo face is $100 when scheduled with staff artists Kate or Dayna, and is $125 when scheduled with the owner–Corinne. False lashes, if desired, are $25 extra. We recommend having hair styled or placed in rollers prior to your makeup appointment.

On-Location Bridal & Special Occasion Services

Instead of coming into the shop, occasionally brides prefer us to come to them. Whether it’s in the privacy of their own home, or the comfort of a bridal suite- we can make that happen! It often invokes a feeling of calm, quiet intimacy with her bridesmaids and mother.

Last weekend, bride Robin Ricks, was married at the Houstonian. She and her husband, Aravind, held a Catholic ceremony on Friday and a Hindu ceremony on Saturday.

Senior staff artist, Dayna Leigh, did the makeup for the ceremony on Friday, and was accompanied by senior staff artist, Kate Block, to assist with makeup the following day.

A newly popular trend has been for the videographer to put together a “Same Day Edit” to play during the reception. This video was filmed and put together by T2 Production. Catch Dayna in scenes :19-:31 of the video doing the makeup for the bride! Plus a close-up shot of the brides finished face at :48!

On-location fees for staff artists are $300 (price includes the first face) and $85 for every face thereafter.

On-location fees with Facade owner, Corinne Williams are $500 (including the cost of the first face) and $100 for every face thereafter.

Usually, a minimum of 3 faces is required for each on-location visit.

There are additional charges for travel outside the beltway, bringing an additional artist, and false lashes, if these things are necessary.

There is so much to plan for an upcoming wedding, and the bottom line is you want to feel confident that you’ll look great on the big day.

Many brides will come in for a run-thru to meet the artist that will be doing her makeup and have a “practice” session to make sure she can communicate the type of look she wants. EVERY SINGLE product that is put on your face is noted with thorough instructions from the artist, so she is sure to be able to re-create the look you conceptualize EXACTLY on your wedding day. Keep in mind that NOTHING is set in stone until the big day–so if you want to change anything about your look, just let us know. It’s important for you to be brutally honest about what you do and don’t like- we want to make sure you LOVE your look–but also remember that this is the PERFECT time to experiment. If you don’t like anything–we don’t have to do it on your wedding day!

We also offer brow shaping with either tweezing or threading, to make sure every part of your gorgeous face is PERFECT for photos AND the aisle.

In addition, many brides also will have bridal portraits taken before the wedding– your makeup will be done again following the directions recorded from the run-thru. Sometimes brides will schedule the run-thru to coincide with the day her portraits are taken to kill two birds with one stone and save a little money.

A bride’s social calendar can be quite full, so you may also consider having a party face done for your engagement party, bridal shower, bachelorette party, and/or rehearsal dinner. Some also schedule a photo face for their engagement photos as well.Last, but not least, on your big day you have two options:

1. Come to our beautiful store located in Uptown Park–come just yourself or bring your mother, sisters, bridesmaids, flower girls, etc. Feel free to bring snacks and/or drinks and leave the rest to us. Our makeup room is designed to feel like your fashionable best friend’s boudoir– cozy but elegant at the same time.
2. Have us BRING everything to you. We will go on location to your venue of choice to do your bridal party. We have kits ready to go, and make sure that everything we used in your run-thru comes with us.

You’ve probably been to Facade to shop or have a lesson or your makeup applied for a special occasion–but we also will bring the shop to you! We always have full kits packed and ready to go for special events on-location!

Earlier this year, we did exactly that for Michelle–who was married at Hotel Zaza. The event required two artists– owner Corinne Williams, and senior staff artist Kate Block were responsible for the bridal party’s pretty and polished looks.

The wedding was put together by one of Houston’s finest wedding planners- Ann Whittington– who is also a dear friend of ours at Facade. She shared with us this video put together by the videographers at Elysium.

Pay special attention to frames 1:06 and 1:42 to see Corinne doing the bride’s makeup, and frame 1:41 to see Kate doing a bridesmaid’s.

This unique video was actually shot AND edited during the wedding, and played at the end as a surprise for the bride and groom before all the guests left for the evening!

“Photo Face” Makeup – Senior Portraits

When two artists have the opportunity to collaborate on a common vision–the finished product can be breathtaking. We were thrilled when top Houston photographer Lisa Jane passed along this copy of Katie’s senior portrait.

Katie has had her makeup done at Facade by senior staff artist Kate Block for this senior portrait as well as her senior prom, and commencement ceremony. With all of the social engagements and stress senior year brings, at least looking flawless was something Katie didn’t have to worry about!

Lisa’s lens and Kate’s brush-strokes created an image that truly exudes Katie’s sweet and soulful personality.

A “party face” application (i.e. for prom and/or commencement ceremony) takes 30-45 minutes and is $65 with staff artists Kate or Dayna, or $75 with the owner–Corinne.

Every last detail is captured in a portrait, so makeup applications for this purpose (a “photo face” as we call them), are scheduled for 60 to 75 minutes to ensure a flawless finish. This service is $100 when scheduled with a staff artist or $125 when scheduled with Corinne.

Most of our clients come to US to shop for their favorite brands in makeup and skincare and to have their makeup done for special events.

But sometimes, it’s more convenient (or just more FUN!) to have us come to YOU! For a wedding, engagement party, or even just a fun “girls night in”, Facade will travel!

In the photo above, Facade owner Corinne Williams is pictured doing the makeup for Natalie Brown (maiden name Reese) in the Brown’s beautiful home before Natalie’s engagement party.

Corinne also did the makeup of the bride’s soon-to-be mother-in-law, Suzanne Brown (who is a loyal Facade client) and soon-to-be sister-in-law, Sarah Feigelson (former Facade bride, and loyal client).

Corinne and senior staff artists Dayna Leigh and Kate Block will be going on location again to do the makeup for the big day itself– at Hotel Zaza. They are responsible for the looks of the bride, the bride’s family, groom’s family, and all the bride’s attendants, totaling 18 faces in all.
