Last weekend Facade Owner, Corinne Williams, accompanied by Senior Staff Artist, Kate Block, went on location to the Houstonian Hotel to do the makeup for Ashley Rovere and her lovely bridesmaids. Facade loves our brides and being enveloped in the fun and anticipation of a wedding—spending time preparing these girls was no exception. Our sweet bride was so excited to be surrounded by her loved ones–and with her magical vision of her wedding reception pulled together by Bahara from Plants ‘n Petals, photographed by Michael Carr Photography, videographed by Elysium, and planned by the capable hands of Ann Whittington (Ann Events) her night was truly ENCHANTING! We are THRILLED to be published in the current issue (Fall 2013) of INSIDE WEDDINGS! We had the privilege of working with some of our favorite vendors in May of this year for the wedding of Facade bride, Tori Pate! The article featuring several photographs of Tori, her mother, her mother-in-law, and brides maids (all of whom had makeup done by Senior Staff artists Kate and Dayna) begins on page 110! Flowers by Abraham from Plants ‘n Petals, a cake by Cakes by Suzie, photography by Michael Carr, and the whole thing coordinated by THE best event planner in Houston– Ann Whittington. We are so excited to share this recognition with the creme de la creme in Houston’s weddings!

Kate and Dayna went on location to hotel Icon to do the makeup for the gorgeous young bride and her party. Kate then followed the bridal party to The Corinthian where she stayed until after the ceremony ended to touch up lipstick/gloss, and powder. (touch-ups on other makeup was un-necessary, as the majority of our products are waterproof and therefor VERY long-lasting!)

Although it is common for us to do makeup for weddings and bridal portraits–that’s not the only makeup we know how to do here at Facade.

Corporate headshots or other professional portraits are an increasingly common marketing tool. It’s critical for your business that you are portrayed in the correct manner as these photos become an important visual representation of you to your client on business cards, websites, and other marekting materials. It’s a great way to establish a sense of trust and rapport with potential clients before ever having met them.

THIS, however, is why it’s incredibly important that not only do you have an appropriate, professional look in your photograph–but also that you look like YOURSELF on your best day– not over-the-top or glamorous. It’s crucial that when meeting new clients you don’t look like someone else completely from the photo. But that being said, doing your own makeup as you normally would isn’t always the best idea. The camera lens tends to read light much differently than the human eye. This is why many times when you think you have on “enough” or even “too much” makeup in person, you may look washed out in photos.

We are skilled at accentuating your best features, concealing minor imperfections, and creating a polished yet natural look. Because every last detail is captured in head shots/portraits, makeup applications for this purpose (a “photo face” as we call them) are scheduled for 60 minutes to ensure a flawless application and finish.

A photo face is $100 when scheduled with staff artists Kate or Dayna, and is $125 when scheduled with the owner–Corinne. False lashes, if desired, are $25 extra. We recommend having hair styled or placed in rollers prior to your makeup appointment.

“Photo Face” Makeup — Bridal Portraits

It’s incredibly important to capture the way you look for your wedding. Often, brides will choose to have a bridal portrait session a few weeks prior to the wedding. This allows not only for her to see how everything (dress, hair, & makeup) comes together in advance, but also gives her more time to work with the photographer to get the desired image under far less emotional pressure.

Many brides will use this opportunity to have their “bridal run-thru” with hair and makeup professionals to establish the kind of look they want for the big day. Some, however, prefer to have a seperate run-thru in advance so they can iron out details of their look BEFORE the bridal portrait session.

Stacy, (pictured above) had a run-thru with Facade owner, Corinne Williams, prior to having her portraits taken. Brides that choose to do a run-thru in advance may choose to have it done on the day of their engagement party or other special occasion so she can truly enjoy having her makeup done for a special evening out.

Bridal run-thrus/portraits are the same price as the bride’s makeup on the day of the wedding. Because of the amount of time and precision put into the look, bridal looks are $150 with Facade owner, Corinne Williams, or $125 with senior staff artists Kate or Dayna. False lashes are $25 extra.

Although far less common, some MOB’s also like to have a run-thru so she can feel confident in her look before the special day! MOB run-thrus are $75 with Corinne or $65 with a staff artist.

Madison had her high school senior portraits taken by Michael Carr at Michael Carr Photography. She is a natural beauty with a lot of spunk. Although Madison certainly doesn’t require a lot of makeup to look beautiful, she wanted to accentuate her eyes for a fun, playful look. After a full consultation, we create a look that best exemplifies each girl’s personality.

Every last detail is captured in a portrait, so makeup applications for this purpose (a “photo face” as we call them), are scheduled for 60 to 75 minutes to ensure a flawless finish. This service is $100 when scheduled with a staff artists Kate or Dayna or $125 when scheduled with the owner, Corinne.

Summer Teen Makeup “Bootcamp”

We LOVE our Facade women, but quite possibly, we adore our Facade GIRLS even more! Bring your special teen in this summer to learn tips and tricks for applying makeup! Teen lessons are about an hour and a half and cover everything from a basic skincare routine to day-to-day makeup and tips to pump it up for special occasions.

We think it’s very helpful (and important!) for girls to learn how to do makeup THE RIGHT WAY the first time! No raccoon rings of black eyeliner, or orange foundation in sight! Not only will she get a day of pampering and a confidence boost- but knowing how to do her own makeup in a pretty age-appropriate way gives her the basics to equip her for a life long of fabulous first impressions!

Between memorial day and labor day, Facade offers these lessons at just $50! Bring in your nieces, daughters, or best friend’s kids…we can even accommodate small parties! If your princess already has makeup, tell her to bring it and we would be happy to incorporate it in her lesson–Otherwise, we are happy to recommend new products that won’t cost you an absolute fortune.

Every bride deserves a calm, comforting atmosphere on her wedding day. Allowing us to come to you can assist in providing a more serene experience as you get ready with your closest friends and family.

Recently, we were invited to do the makeup for a wedding for Lindsay Harris, at the home of her parents, in Beaumont, TX. Facade Owner, Corinne Williams, had done the makeup for Lindsay’s two sisters on their wedding days, and had done Lindsay’s makeup for her engagement party, bridesmaid’s luncheon, and various showers.

Corinne and staff artist, Kate Block, arrived in Beaumont on the eve of the wedding, so Lindsay’s makeup could be done for her bridal portrait (below, captured beautifully by Houston photographer Michael Carr) and her rehearsal dinner.

The morning of the wedding, makeup was done for the bridal party and close family.

Prices for “Destination” On-location services, vary. Since this trip required an overnight stay, accommodations were provided by the bride and her family.

There is so much to plan for an upcoming wedding, and the bottom line is you want to feel confident that you’ll look great on the big day.

Many brides will come in for a run-thru to meet the artist that will be doing her makeup and have a “practice” session to make sure she can communicate the type of look she wants. EVERY SINGLE product that is put on your face is noted with thorough instructions from the artist, so she is sure to be able to re-create the look you conceptualize EXACTLY on your wedding day. Keep in mind that NOTHING is set in stone until the big day–so if you want to change anything about your look, just let us know. It’s important for you to be brutally honest about what you do and don’t like- we want to make sure you LOVE your look–but also remember that this is the PERFECT time to experiment. If you don’t like anything–we don’t have to do it on your wedding day!

We also offer brow shaping with either tweezing or threading, to make sure every part of your gorgeous face is PERFECT for photos AND the aisle.

In addition, many brides also will have bridal portraits taken before the wedding– your makeup will be done again following the directions recorded from the run-thru. Sometimes brides will schedule the run-thru to coincide with the day her portraits are taken to kill two birds with one stone and save a little money.

A bride’s social calendar can be quite full, so you may also consider having a party face done for your engagement party, bridal shower, bachelorette party, and/or rehearsal dinner. Some also schedule a photo face for their engagement photos as well.Last, but not least, on your big day you have two options:

1. Come to our beautiful store located in Uptown Park–come just yourself or bring your mother, sisters, bridesmaids, flower girls, etc. Feel free to bring snacks and/or drinks and leave the rest to us. Our makeup room is designed to feel like your fashionable best friend’s boudoir– cozy but elegant at the same time.
2. Have us BRING everything to you. We will go on location to your venue of choice to do your bridal party. We have kits ready to go, and make sure that everything we used in your run-thru comes with us.
